Lauren Veronica
When you turn out the light and you dream
Does a prince or a vagabond star in your show
Does he treat my princess like a queen
You know the magic that binds you to me
The magic that binds me to you
You say you love me well I love you more
And I think it’s high time you knew
Lauren Veronica where do you go
Do you ride a white horse in your sleep
Does he take you to places that you want to go
Does he give you new secrets to keep
You know the magic that binds me to you
The magic that binds you to me
Strange how it feels when I look in your eyes
And my own eyes look back at me
Lauren Veronica where have you been
To steal all their hearts with a smile
Morninglight open her pretty green eyes
Dreamcatcher stay for a while
You know the magic that binds you to me
The magic that binds me to you
Watching the stars come alive when you smile
To light up the sky for me too
The Heartbreak Child
The first time I saw her I could only stare
At her cut off jeans and long black hair
That flowed as she walked like a cat in the wild
The first time I saw the heartbreak child
Don’t be consumed by those glittering eyes
She’ll always rely on the art of surprise
You’ll always remember the way that she smiled
Caught in the spell of the heartbreak child
Chorus:
Oh man don't look back she's trouble you know it
She'll feed on your fear you better not show it
Oozing obsession from every pore
She's dangerous game but you go back for more
She looks so sweet and her innocence glows
Feline intuition, she knows what she knows
I laid eyes on her I was simply beguiled
That’s how it goes with the heartbreak child
She’s walking she’s stalking she arches her back
Wound like a panther about to attack
She can’t be tamed, she was born to be wild
Don’t lose your heart to the heartbreak child
Chorus:
Oh man don't look back she's trouble you know it
She'll feed on your fear you better not show it
Oozing obsession from every pore
She's dangerous game but you go back for more
Jenny
Makeshift bed in a nameless doorway
Jenny wakes up but she can’t face the day
She reaches for the bottle that she stole from the one-stop
Police come along and she’s moved on her way
Chorus:
Young dark eyes hide a painful sadness
Wears her blond hair like an urban crown
Feels like she’s ridin’ on the helter-skelter
Whatever she does she can only go down
Rain pours hard on the city centre
Headlights shine on the slick wet street
Stands on the roadside, stares at the drivers
She needs one to stop, she needs money to eat
Chorus:
Later that night in the Porthole Café
Turns to the door when she hears his voice
Swaps all her money for a pack of brown powder
Used to be a kick, now she got no choice
Chorus:
Back to the street and the rain’s still falling
She gotta find somewhere to lay her head
Tomorrow always brings a lot more of the same
Jenny just shrugs she’d be better off dead
Chorus:
Friends (300 Miles)
We wake up to the new day
Sunshine eyes and happy faces
We want an early start so
In the car we throw the cases
The sun has turned to rain we stop
For sandwiches and tea
Despite the crazy traffic
We arrive just after three
Chorus:
We all need cheering up and so it's time to take a drive
Three hundred miles to go y'know but we don't care
Our friends are waitin' for us well it's really been too long
They live just south of London hey we'll soon be there oh yeah
We roll up to the house
The cats are stirring on the rug
They all come out to say hello
Give everyone a hug
There’s beer in the fridge and
There’s Bacardi on the table
We chill and laugh about life
For as long as we are able
Chorus:
Spend an hour or three in town
And check out all the sights
Watch the sun set on the Thames
Immersed in yellow light
The daytime turns to night
We play all our favourite songs
Volume turned right up we all
Join in and sing along
Chorus:
Talk about the laughs we’ve had
Good times that lie ahead
The hours fly so quickly
Til we tumble into bed
Morning brings a sadness
We’ll soon be making tracks
But we know it won’t be long
Until we’re coming back
Chorus:
Ron's Navy
Ron didn’t do such a good job in school
The class clown just tryin’ to be funny
With an eye for the girls and the heart for a fight
In his pockets he always had money
At sixteen Ron turns himself loose on the world
But he don’t have qualifications
A uniform always impresses the girls
In the Navy he’ll fight for his nation
Chorus:
The gunship leaves Portsmouth, she’s bound for the Gulf
The band plays, the families wave at her
The Captain salutes and the boys proudly wave
From the deck of HMS Lancaster
In the Gulf they encountered a large pirate ship
Their hostage, a billionaire’s daughter
They rescued the girl and the Lancaster blew
The pirate ship out of the water
Ron was just nineteen but he was a man
He’d write home to mum sending letters
Like all sailors he missed old England’s white shores
That just made the comin’ home better
Chorus:
The warm wind blows dust on the Suez Canal
From the banks all the locals wave at her
On the Queen’s ship a smiling young Matelot salutes
From the bridge of HMS Lancaster
Ron was on lookout the moment he saw
The diesel cloud on the horizon
The most dangerous pirate vessel of all
The mother ship they all rely on
The pirates defiantly charged for a fight
At full steam ahead getting faster
She rose from the sea split in two by a shell
From the guns of HMS Lancaster
Chorus:
A cool evening breeze sweeps the Suez Canal
As she heads home the locals wave at her
On old two-two-nine a young Matelot salutes
From the bridge of HMS Lancaster
Every Which Way
We all keep growing older
It’s something we can’t change
The mirror far too honest as
Our features rearrange
I still remember eighy six
When you were seventeen
You had the prettiest eyes I think
A man has ever seen
The years rolled by on you and I
And we’re still here today
And I still want to spend my time
Lovin’ you every which way
The journey hasn’t been too smooth
I guess we married young
But we did really well to raise
A daughter and a son
Now the Autumn leaves of life are blowing
Slowly to the ground
Our teenage kids both working at
Careers that they have found
The years rolled by on you and I
And we’re still here today
And I still want to spend my time
Lovin’ you every which way
So who knows what the future holds
Or what fate has in store
So long as we are side by side
We’ll be okay I’m sure
I had no thoughts of Winter
As a young boy in the Spring
But hindsight gives perspective to
Just almost anything
The years rolled by on you and I
And we’re still here today
And I still want to spend my time
Lovin’ you every which way
Born For Loving You
They say the world gets warmer
That the ice is melting fast
They say the rain’s a-coming
Don’t know how long it will last
They say there will be tidal waves
I guess they could be right
It just don’t seem to matter
On this warm Sepember night
Chorus:
They say an awful lot of things, not all of them are true
A fact you can rely on, I was born for loving you
They say the floods are coming
And the earthquakes they won’t stop
Rainforests disappear
As the farmers lose their crop
Hurricanes are blowin’
As the ozone fades away
But it just don’t seem to matter
On this sunny August day
Chorus:
They say an awful lot of things, not all of them are true
A fact you can rely on, I was born for loving you
Forest fires are raging
And the land is scorched and black
They say we’ve done the damage
And there ain’t no goin’ back
They say disease will take us all
That man has killed the Earth
They say the ice age will return
They’re wrong, for what it’s worth
Chorus:
They say an awful lot of things, not all of them are true
A fact you can rely on, I was born for loving you
